Extract retour dated at Mound of Regressie in Saulsit by Andrew Agnew, sheriff of Wigton and Gilbert Agnew, his depute, by dispensation of the Lords of Council and Session. The assize consisted of Ninian Adair of Kinhilt elder, William Adair of Kinhilt yr., John Hannay of Sorbie yr., William Baillie of Blairschynot, James Twedie of Garvoch (? Ganoch), Quintin Boyd of Achrochir, Robert Boyd in Larbrax, William McCulloch of Inshankis, George McCulloch in Achramen, Gilbert Boyd of Leswat, Quentin Mure of Auchneill, John Baillie in Galdenoch, Dougald Crauford in Clynes (or Calynes), Patrick Agnew of Seuchan, John Mure, yr., in Arrewlane, Thomas Agnew of Garclerie and William Boyd fiar of Achrochir - who found that Janet Agnew was heir to her deceased father Quintin Agnew of Killumquha in the 2½ merkland of Killumquha and in the 20/- lands of Nether Grenane in the parish of Kirkmadyn held in chief of John McDowell of Logane, as superior by ward and relief and that the said 4 merkland of Killumquha and Grenane are valued at 12 merks and had been in the hands of the said superior since the decease of Beatrice McGie, mother of the said Janet and spouse of the said Quintin in conjunct fee for the space of 18 years for non-entry |
