Title |
Contract of Marriage dated at Mayboill, between Grizzel Vaus, daughter of Sir Patrick Vaus of Barnbarroch and John McDowell of Logan, with consent of his curators "to be electit by him" and of George Campbell in Logane, who had right to the ward and marriage of the said John. John McDowell is to infeft Grizzel in the liferent of the 5 merkland of Logane an Balkellie and the 20/- lands of Over Grenane and mansion place thereof. George Campbell dispones to John, his right to John's marriage and profits thereof assigned to him by Uchtred McDowell of Garthland, the principal donator. Sir Patrick Vaus is to defend Grizzel for life in the 10 merkland of Barquhonne wherein she had been infeft by her husband the deceast John Kennedy of Barquhonne paying feu maills as contained in the infeftment of the deceast Hew Kennedy of Barquhonne to their superior; and seeing that the deceast John Kennedy by his testament appointed his son, William Kennedy his only executor to whom the Sir Patrick is nominated tutor, Grizzel renounces to the said William Kennedy her part of John Kennedy's moveables and plenishings as the whole of John's estate must be poinded by its debtors. Sir Patrick dispones to the said George Campbell all the cattle and plenishings on the 4 merkland of Camfert that pertains to the said late John Kennedy. Sir Patrick is to obtain and deliver to the said John McDowell of Logan a renunciation of the 40/- lands of Kilstaye in the barony of Logane at the hands of John McCulloch, brother to William McCulloch of Myrtoun |
