Note on Cathcart of Ganoch.
Agnes Cathcart after infeftment disponed the lands to Robert Cathcart of Ganoch and his sons John and Fergus (sasine 14 Dec. 1700.) Robert had married (Marriage Contract dated 1 July, 1690) Margaret McCubbein. In 1719 John Cathcart of Ganoch eldest son of Robert married Agnes eldest daughter of Alexander Cochrane of Craigmuir and disponed on 1 July 1762 to his only son Robert who married (Marriage Contract dated 6th Sept. 1762) Marion daughter of John Buchan of Letham, John Cathcart was served heir to Robert in 1784 and married Ann Gordon eldest daughter of Hon. Alexander Gordon of Rockville senator of the College of Justict (17 June 1795). Robert Cathcart of East India Co. was served heir as eldest son to the said John in 1838 and is described as "of Over Torris". In 1841 Alexander Cathcart only surviving son of John is served heir of provision to Robert Cathcart his brother and dispones the whole lands in 1842 to James McDowell of Logan. |
