Description |
Dated at Ballyburrow. "I am very sensible that you have had abundance of trouble in that affair and there is nothing lyeth in my power [that] shall be wanting. As for General Douglas' retired bond you may all remember when you gave Skirling your bond the bond granted to Lieut. General Douglas you got all your names from it and it was cancelled. As for any other papers relating to it, I have non except General Douglas' chartour of the lands, for it was with Hugh Wallace and Stenhous. I made the bargain he was not in the Kingdom when the bargain was concluded so that I never had so much as ane lyne from him in the affair. As for my going over, if it can signifie anything I shall be satisfied to goe sometyme in May, but all the accompt I can give I have given it. I shall send the chartour over with the first sure hand. Logan younger was witness to the subscriving of the disposition to me so that I never got an scrape from his hand. All the same if there is anything I can do I shall be willing to do to the utmost of my power. I shall send over with the first sure hand General Douglas his chartour of the lands and if I can find anything unde?? Stenhouse or Mr. Wallace his hand I will send yt by Kewayes, but it was still to Robert Alexander they [ ]. |
