[In 1680 Wm. Adair younger of Corghie married Grizzel McDowell sister of James McDowell of Gillespie (P.R.S. III f. 177) and was succeeded by James Adair his brother in 1723 who settled at Belfast and had three sons, William, who predeceased his father unmarried, Patrick and James. Patrick survived his father but made up no titles to the estate and died in 1764 without male issue. James settled in London and died in 1782 leaving a son James Adair sergeant-at-law who had to establish a title as heir to his grandfather James.] |
