Title |
Precept directed to Gilbert Makcristin and John Neilsoun, as sheriffs in hac parte to serve a summons upon an assize of error upon Charles Makdowell and the inquest. The inquisition had consisted of Andrew Agnew, sheriff principal of Wigton, Andrew Agnew, his depute, Patrick Dunbar of Loch, Alexander Makcullo of Killessar, Thomas Makdowell of Mundork, Patrick Ahannay of Sorbie, William Gordoun of Crechlaw, John Makdowell of Garochlen, Henry Makdowell of Knokcros, William [A]Dayr of Kinhilt, William Carnis of Orchartoun, John Makcristein of Clouch, Patrick Dunbar of Cralach, Andrew Fullartoun of Carlstoun, John Ashenane of Park, John McKee and James Maxwell, and had served Charles Makdowell as heir to his father the deceast Patrick Makdowell of Logane in the 2½ merkland of Vazelane alias Logane, 5 merkland of Kirkbryde, the 4 merklands of Garrouch, the 20/- lands of Grenane, the 16/- lands of Park Logane, the 4 merklands of Auchn [ ] a ½ merkland of Kilumphy, the 2½ merkland of Avazelane-McKelle, 2½ merklands of Kilumquhay-Agnew the 20/- lands of Grenane, 3 merklands of Kilstay and the 7½ merkland of Elrig, Ballgoun and Myroch, - whereas in fact at the time of Patrick's death and for many years previously other persons were vested and seased in various of these lands holding of the said deceast Patrick and his predecessors in chief - viz:- the 7½ merkland of Elrig, Ballgoun and Myroch by John Makdowell of Garthland, Uchtred, his brother and [ ] Makdowell their father; the 4 merkland of Kilstay by the deceast John McCulloch of Kilstay and his predecessors; the 2½ merkland of Kilumquhay-Agnew and the 20/- lands of Grenane by the deceast Ninian Agnew and his predecessors; and the 2½ merkland of Avazellane-McKelle by John Aschenane and his predecessors |
