Description |
The protocol (dated 22 July 1534, before these witnesses: Henry McDowal, Andrew Agnew, Henry McDowal of Knokcross, William Mundwal and John McRegter) recites a letter of attorney from the royal chancery in favour of Quentin McDowal and Gilbert McDowal, as attorneys of Charles McDowal, dated at Edinburgh, 9 June a.r. 21 [i.e., 1534], and a crown precept in favour of said Charles as heir of Patrick McDowal of Logane, his father, in the said lands, of the same date, relating that the lands had been in the king's hands for five years before 10 February 1533/4 by reason of ward. Gilbert Agnew acted as bailie for Andrew Agnew, sheriff of Wigtoune.
The process was done in the choir of the parish church of Stenaker, 7 January 1544/5, before these witnesses: Mr. John Murheid, parson of Stennaker, sir Andrew Quhit, notary, Andrew McCulloch, Finlay McCulloch and Gilbert McDowal. Notary - Michael McCrekane, Galloway diocese. |
