Uddingston Free Church began with mission work under Bothwell in the 1850s, but this later lapsed and the congregation was only formed and sanctioned in 1876, with a church built in the same year. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as Uddingston Chalmers, and to the Church of Scotland. Uddingston Old was formed in 1982 by the union of Uddingston Chalmers and Uddingston Trinity. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Hamilton and the synod of Clydesdale. |
