Panbride Free Church was formed immediately at the Disruption, but the congregation was unable to obtain a site for a church building until 1854. The one which opened that year was partly burned down in 1887 and enlarged in 1888. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Carnoustie Newton Panbride. The Church of Scotland charge, which was in the presbytery of Arbroath and the synod of Angus and Mearns, linked with Panbride in 1956 and united with it in 1961 as Carnoustie Panbride. |
