Edinburgh, High Free Church was formed at the Disruption, when both ministers of the High Kirk adhered to the Free Church and one of them became minister of the High Free Church. A church was erected at the head of the Mound, part of the New College buildings, and opened in 1850. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Reid Memorial. In January 1935 the congregation moved to Reid Memorial church at Blackford. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Edinburgh and the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale. |
