history |
Arbroath, Second United Associate (Burgher) Church originated with a petition to Aberdeen Burgher Presbytery to form a congregation. The church building opened in 1821 and the first minister was ordained in the following year. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, in the latter case as Arbroath Erskine, and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge, which was in the presbytery of Arbroath and synod of Angus and Mearns, was linked with Arbroath Princes Street in 1957 and united with it in 1959 as Arbroath St Columba's. |
