Cumberland Street United Free Church, Glasgow, began in 1862, with a group of worshippers who met in the Tontine at Glasgow Cross and eventually built a church in Cumberland Street at Mathieson Street (1873). They became Cumberland Street United Presbyterian (later United Free) Church, and terminated in 1908 on uniting with Oatlands (I) United Free Church as Oatlands (II) United Free.The Kirk Sessions of presbyterian churches were modelled on those of the established church. |
