Invergordon Free Church began in the early 1860s. Invergordon was in the parish of Rosskeen, which had a Free Church from the Disruption, but a need was felt for a separate charge for the town. A church building was opened in 1861 and a minister settled in 1862. The congregation passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Ross (formerly Tain) and was in the synod of Ross, Sutherland and Caithness until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
