Portobello, Windsor Place, United Secession Church originated with a petition tithe Secession Presbytery of Edinburgh in 1835. In the following year a congregation was formed and the first minister ordained. The new congregation took possession of a church in Bath Street in 1838, but moved to Windsor Place in 1880. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian Church, as Edinburgh Portobello Windsor Place, the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge, which was in the presbytery of Edinburgh and the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale, united in 1973 with Portobello Old as Portobello Old and Windsor Place. |
