Reston Free Church was formed through work by the minister of the adjoining Grant's House (or Houndwood) congregation. The church building was opened in 1880 and the charge sanctioned in the following year. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland. From 1958 until 1973 it was linked with Bonkyl and Preston and from 1973 with Grantshouse and Houndwood. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Duns and was in the synod of Merse and Teviotdale until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
