Hamilton, Low Waters Free Church originated with mission work carried out by Hamilton St John's Free Church. The separate charge was sanctioned in 1897. It passed successively to the United Free Church, with a name change to Hamilton South in 1904, and to the Church of Scotland. It was linked with Quarter in 1956. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Hamilton and was in the synod of Clydesdale until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
