Aberdeen, Commerce Street (Mariners') Free Church originated at the Disruption, when the minister and congregation of what was then Mariners' Church adhered to the Free Church and for a time retained the existing building. A new church was built in Commerce Street in 1844, but the name was not changed accordingly until 1881. Aberdeen Commerce Street passed to the United Free Church with a new church building in King Street, opened in 1903, leading to a further name change to Aberdeen St Andrew's. This united with Aberdeen Nelson Street as Aberdeen King Street in 1909. The United Free charge was in the presbytery and synod of Aberdeen. |
