Paisley, Middle Free Church was formed at the Disruption by adherents from several existing congregations and was hence known at first as the United congregation. It worshipped for a time in a Gaelic church, until its own building was completed in 1844 (reconstructed 1863). It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Paisley St John's, which in 1991 became part of Paisley Oakshaw Trinity. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Paisley and the synod of Clydesdale. |
