Glencaple Free Church was established as a preaching station in 1854, with a church built in 1856. The charge, sanctioned in 1862, passed to the United Free Church, but was once more reduced to a mission station in 1908. This was provisionally united with Caerlaverock Parish Church in 1929. After the union with the Church of Scotland the combined charge became Caerlaverock and Glencaple. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Dumfries and Penpont and the synod of Dumfries and Galloway. |
