Dunblane Leighton began as a Secession Church of the Associate Synod (Burgher) in 1757 and in the following year the first Burgher church was built. However in the same year the congregation decided to join with Bridge of Teith and did not disjoin and regain their own session until 1765. The first minister was ordained in 1768. The Associate Synods united in 1820 to become the United Secession Church and in 1847 this church joined with the Relief Church and the Dunblane congregation became United Presbyterian. Following the union with the Free Church in 1900 the church was known as Dunblane Leighton United Free Church. It followed the United Free Church into the union with the Church of Scotland in 1929 and in 1952 was united with Dunblane East to form Dunblane St Blane's . |
