The session of Addiewell and Stoneyburn was established in 1919 when the Presbytery of Edinburgh decided to join the two former mission stations of Addiewell and of Stoneyburn together to create one congregation under one minister and one kirk session. A new church had been built at Addiewell a number of years prior in 1914 and in 1925 an additional church was opened at Stoneyburn. In 1929, at the union of the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Addiewell and Stoneyburn United Free became Stoneyburn Church of Scotland. The Stoneyburn congregation united with two others in February 2000; 1. Addiewell; and 2. Longridge and Breich. The united charge taking the name The Breich Valley Church of Scotland. |
