Dunnichen Free Church began at the Disruption, when the minister and many of his congregation adhered to the Free Church and built their own church building in 1845. The congregation divided and Dunnichen was for a time reduced to a station, but in 1851 sanction was restored. It passed successively to the United Free Church, with a change of name to Letham, and to the Church of Scotland, uniting with Dunnichen and Kirkden as Dunnichen, Letham and Kirkden (CH2/1632) in 1931. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Forfar and the synod of Angus and Mearns. |
