Bower Free Church was formed at the Disruption, when the minister and most of the congregation of the parish church adhered to the Free Church. A church was built in 1855. It passed to the United Free Church, but the buildings were allocated to the Free Church and a temporary wooden structure had to be built for use until the completion of a new church in 1910. The Church of Scotland charge, Bower New, united with Bower Holyrood in 1947 as Bower. It was in the presbytery of Caithness and the synod of Ross, Sutherland and Caithness. |
