Southend Relief Church originated with a petition to Glasgow Relief Presbytery in 1797. The new church opened in 1798 and the first minister was ordained in the following year. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge, Southend St Columba, united with Southend St Blaan in 1946 as Southend. It was in the presbytery of Kintyre and the synod of Argyll. |
