Moray House, a 17th-century Edinburgh town house in the Canongate, and its site were acquired by the Free Church in 1846 and converted into a Normal and Sessional School, that is, a teacher-training institution. The school opened in 1848. Moray House School of Education is now part of Edinburgh University.
