Lybster Free Church was formed at the Disruption, when the congregation of the existing quoad sacra church adhered to the Free Church and for a time occupied the building. Their own church was opened by 1847. It passed to the United Free Church but was allocated to the Free Church and had to be replaced. The Church of Scotland charge, Lybster Central, united with Lybster St Mary's as Lybster in 1934. It was in the presbytery of Caithness and the synod of Ross, Sutherland and Caithness. |
