Kilmacolm United Presbyterian Church originated with a petition for sermon to Greenock United Presbyterian Presbytery in 1858, after a series of local patronage disputes. The first minister was ordained in 1860 and a church opened in 1862 (replaced 1903). It passed to the United Free Church as Kilmacolm St James'. The Church of Scotland charge, Kilmacolm St James's (sic), which was in the presbytery of Greenock and synod of Clydesdale, united with Kilmacolm St Columba under that name in 1957. |
