Uphall Free Church dated from 1894, when a mission was begun in the village by Broxburn Free Church. In 1897 it joined a local United Presbyterian mission to form Uphall Free Church, which was sanctioned in 1898. It passed successively to the United Free Church, with a new church building opened in 1926, and to the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Uphall South. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of West Lothian (formerly Bathgate) and was in the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
