Dumbarton North Free Church began with mission work by Dumbarton High and was sanctioned as a separate charge in 1874. The congregation met for a time in a church vacated by Dumbarton High, before it built its own, opened in 1878. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland. Dumbarton North united with Dumbarton Old and Dumbarton High as Dumbarton Riverside in 1972. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Dumbarton and the synod of Clydesdale. |
