North Bute Free Church began at the Disruption, when the minister and most of his congregation adhered to the Free Church. A church in Port Bannatyne, built in 1843, was replaced in 1879. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Port Bannatyne St Bruoc's. In 1956 the Church of Scotland charge united with North Bute St Colmac's and St Ninian's as North Bute St Colmac's, St Bruoc's and St Ninian's, later renamed North Bute. It was in the presbytery of Dunoon and the synod of Argyll. |
