Paisley, Mossvale United Presbyterian Church began with missionary work by Paisley St James' United Presbyterian in a poor area of the town. The congregation was formed in 1880 and the first minister inducted in the following year. The church building was opened in 1884. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland. Paisley Mossvale and Paisley North united as Paisley Merksworth in 1975. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Paisley and the synod of Clydesdale. |
