The congregation of Dunbar Second United Presbyterian Church, which was later termed Dunbar East United Presbyterian Church, belonged to the Antiburgher branch of the Secession church. The charge was initially formed in 1760 within the village of East Barns and it wasn't until the year 1820 that the congregation was removed to a recently erected church in Dunbar. In 1885, following the resignation of William Whitefield the fourth minister of the session, the congregation, which sat within the Presbytery of Dunbar, was formally dissolved. |
