Ayr West United Free Church was the successor to Ayr Free Church, which had been formed at the Disruption, at first with a wooden building in Alloway Place. It became successively a United Free church (as Ayr West) and a Church of Scotland charge (as Ayr Sandgate). As a CS charge it was in the presbytery and synod of Ayr.The Kirk Sessions of presbyterian churches were modelled on those of the established church. |
