Rattray Free Church originated at the Disruption, when the minister and a large part of the congregation adhered to the Free Church. It was briefly in the Free Church presbytery of Dunkeld, but transferred to Meigle in 1843. It passed successively to the United Free Church, with a new church in New Rattray from 1912, and to the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Rattray West, which united with Rattray East as Rattray in 1946. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Meigle and the synod of Angus and Mearns. |
