Aberdeen, Holburn Free Church originated as Gilcomston chapel of ease. The minister and almost the entire congregation adhered to the Free Church at the Disruption and erected a church in 1844. After moving to Great Western Road in 1894, the congregation passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Aberdeen Holburn West. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Aberdeen and was in the synod of Aberdeen until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
