Paisley, Lylesland United Presbyterian Church opened in 1885, the result of an initiative by Thread Street United Presbyterian Church. In the following year it became a separate congregation with its own minister and later passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Greenock and Paisley (formerly Paisley) and was in the synod of Clydesdale until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
