Durness Free Church began at the Disruption, when the minister and almost the whole of the existing congregation adhered to the Free Church. A church and manse were erected in 1845. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Durness Sangamore, which united with Durness Durine in 1931 as Durness. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Tongue and the synod of Sutherland and Caithness. |
