West Kilbride Free Church was formed at the Disruption, when the minister and a large part of the congregation adhered to the Free Church. A church was opened in 1843, but replaced with one on a different site in 1881. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as West Kilbride St Bride's, and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge, which was in the presbytery of Ardrossan and the synod of Ayr, united in 1974 with West Kilbride Barony as West Kilbride St Andrew's. |
