Neilston Free Church began with services in the village under Barrhead in 1870. The separate charge was sanctioned in 1873 and a church and manse built soon afterwards. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Neilston South, which united with Neilston North as Neilston in 1964. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Paisley and the synod of Clydesdale. |
