Galston (Burgher) United Secession Church was formed in 1790, although Seceders locally had occasionally been supplied with sermon from Kilmarnock before that date. The church building dated from 1798 and the first minister was ordained in 1800. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, in the latter case as Galston Erskine, and to the Church of Scotland. Galston Erskine united with Galston Trinity as Galston New in 1949. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Irvine and Kilmarnock and the synod of Ayr. |
