The Kirk Session of Earlston St. John?s was established in 1886 from the union of Earlston East (Antiburgher) and Earlston West (Relief). Earlston St. John?s formed part of the Presbytery of Melrose within the United Presbyterian Church until 1900, part of the Presbytery of Melrose within the United Free Church, from 1900 to 1929, and part of the Presbytery of Melrose within the Church of Scotland, from 1929 to 1976. With the restructuring of presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Melrose and Peebles. In 1946, Earlston St. John?s united with Earlston Ercildoune, under the name Earlston. |
