Aberdeen West Free Church began at the Disruption, when the minister and a large part of the congregation of the existing West parish church adhered to the Free Church. Their new church building was opened in 1844, but they moved to Union Street in 1869. The congregation passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Aberdeen, St Andrew, West of. This united with St Nicholas Union Grove as Aberdeen, Langstane Kirk in 1973. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery and synod of Aberdeen. The congregation was dissolved on 4 April 1999. |
