Kelso East Relief Church apparently originated as an offshoot of the Secession, with a petition to Edinburgh Relief Presbytery in 1791. A minister was ordained in 1792. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free churches, in the latter case as Kelso Edenside. It adhered to the Church of Scotland in 1929 and united with Kelso St John's as Kelso St John's-Edenside in 1931. This in turn united with Ednam as Kelso St John's-Edenside and Ednam in 1952. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Jedburgh and Kelso and the synod of Merse and Teviotdale. |
