Muirton (Antiburgher) United Secession Church originated in 1767 with a petition to the Antiburgher session of Montrose for a disjunction, leading to the ordination of the first minister in 1773. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, and united with Marykirk in 1917 as Marykirk and Muirton United Free. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun and the synod of Fife and Angus. |
