At the Disruption of 1843 only a few people in Dollar adhered to the Free Church, but the minister of Muckhart and several members of his congregation did. They built a church at Shelterhall between the two places. In 1852 the Auld Lichts of the Original Secession congregation at Dollar united with the Free Church and gradually most Shelterhall members joined this church. The congregation at Shelterhall was discontinued in 1864.The Kirk Session functioned in a similar way to Sessions of the Church of Scotland. |
