Alyth Free Church was formed at the Disruption, originally with Glenisla, but a church was erected at Glenisla and a separate congregation formed there in 1849. Alyth passed to the United Free Church as Alyth North, uniting with Alyth South as Alyth United Free in 1927, and then passed to the Church of Scotland as Alyth Barony. The Church of Scotland charge, which was in the presbytery of Meigle and synod of Angus and Mearns, united with Alyth High as Alyth in 1976. |
