Coatbridge, Coatdyke United Presbyterian Church was formed as a congregation in 1887, with a minister ordained the following year. An iron church had already been erected, part of mission work under the joint charge of the United Presbyterian churches of Coatbridge and Airdrie. The congregation passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Coatbridge Cliftonhill, which linked with Coatbridge Trinity in 1970 and united with it as Coatbridge Coatdyke in 1973. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Hamilton and the synod of Clydesdale. |
