Stirling St Columba's originated when the congregation of the newly opened North Church, Murray Place, Stirling followed its minister at the Disruption of 1843 and formed a Free Church. A new building was opened in 1853, also in Murray Place. In 1900 on the union of the Free Church with the United Presbyterians the church became part of the United Free Church and moved two years later to a building on Park Terrace called the Peter Memorial Church. The congregation of Craigs United Free Church joined them there in 1909. On the union the United Free Church with the Church of Scotland in 1929 the church became known as St Columba's. |
