East Linton Associate Congregation (Burgher) Church began with a petition for disjunction to Edinburgh Presbytery from Haddington and Dunbar in 1772. The first minister was ordained in 1795. The congregation passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, in the latter case as Prestonkirk East Linton North, which in 1910 united with Prestonkirk St Andrew's as Prestonkirk United Free. The Church of Scotland charge, Prestonkirk (East Linton) St Andrew's, united with Prestonkirk (East Linton) Old as Prestonkirk in 1959. It was in the presbytery of Haddington and Dunbar and the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale. |
