St Andrew?s Church, Ayr, originated as a Free Church formed in 1890 on the initiative of members of Wallacetown Free Church. The charge was sanctioned in the following year and a new church built shortly afterwards. It was initially referred to as Wallacetown Artillery Hall Congregation, but later changed to St Andrew?s. It passed to the United Free Church in 1900 and to the Church of Scotland in 1929. As a CS charge it is in the presbytery of Ayr and was in the synod of Ayr until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
